Although born and bred in Otago, I now live in Cheviot, North Canterbury with my husband and our youngest child. We've only just recently moved here and are loving the warm temperatures and friendly feel of the town.
I started my accounting practice in 2014 with the primary purpose of helping small businesses. I was, and still am, an early adopter of cloud accounting, which simply means, instead of doing all accounting work on paper or spreadsheets, I would use Xero to allow me to be paper free and also to help small businesses from around New Zealand. Initially I had a few friends and others who knew me from friends, but soon I had several clients from as far afield as Auckland, Queenstown and Invercargill.
Now most communication is by email, or phone call or Zoom calls when I need to do training or talk through matters in more depth.
Although I do work quite hard, I also like spending time outside in the garden and also at the beach and in nearby hills and mountains in Otago and further afield. I try to spend as much time as I can on my mountain bike just getting out and about.
This is probably enough about me for now. The main thing I'd like you to takeaway is that I am friendly and down to earth and not particularly formal.
