About

Although my practice is named "& Co, Chartered Accountants", this is so I can take on casual staff or contractors as need be. For now, when you email or call, it will be me who answers.

I confess to have been born and bred in Otago, settling with my husband in Dunedin.  It's not that we don't like the rest of New Zealand, we love many parts of it, it's just that this is where life have settled us.

We have four beautiful children, three cats and a dog, and live on a rural block in the hills above Dunedin.  I like it there as it's close to the city but is very rural in outlook and peacefulness.  I have small office set apart from the house in landscaped garden, amongst established native trees and shrubs.  For a number of years we operated a boutique native plant nursery called Moa Park Natives. Just to prove it, I've loaded a goofy photo of myself and husband next to the Moa sculpture we had made. You'll be able to see it if you come and visit my office.

In 2014, a bit tired of working for others, I set up this accounting practice.  The primary purpose was to be able to devote time to helping small businesses.

I was, and still am, an early adopter of cloud accounting, which simply means, instead of doing all accounting work on paper or spreadsheets, I would use Xero to allow me to be paper free and also to help small businesses from around New Zealand.  Initially I had a few friends and others who knew me from friends, but soon I had several clients from as far afield as Auckland, Queenstown and Invercargill.

Now most communication is by email, or phone call or Zoom calls when I need to do training or talk through matters in more depth.

Although I do work quite hard, I also have some leisure time. I like spending time in the native bush on our property trying to turn part of it into a vegetable garden and also out in beaches and hills and mountains in Otago and further afield.  Most often however, I try to spend as much time as I can on my mountain bike just getting out and about.  Aramoana or the Otago Peninsula are favourite places nearby.

This is probably enough about me for now.  The main thing I'd like you to takeaway is that I am friendly and down to earth and not particularly formal.
