We are a small accounting firm (well actually, it’s just me at the moment) but I am growing steadily and use the help of others as needed. I’ve been a Chartered Accountant since 1991 and have worked in a number of roles including audit, treasury accountant, consultant and lecturing at the University of Otago. My first love is small business however and in recent years have decided to re-establish my accounting practice so I can focus on helping small business owners get control over their accounting and grow their businesses.
With advances in IT and the internet it is now possible to work from anywhere and so I am presently working from our lifestyle block on Signal Hill, Dunedin. Home for me is more like a national park as my husband and I also have a small native plant nursery – Moa Park Natives. It’s a much nicer environment than an inner city office. I have clients in Dunedin, Queenstown and Auckland and make use of modern technology to work smarter.
My specialty is individuals, small to medium businesses and not for profit organisations, and I offer a full range of accounting services. All accounting work is performed by me and my costs are very competitive. I use and promote Xero accounting software because I believe it is the best on the market. This doesn’t mean that if you don’t have Xero I can’t help you. I have a good working knowledge of other accounting software packages and systems and so can be completely flexible.
I am a very friendly and down to earth accountant and always work with my clients to find the best solution for them.
My practice entity, Nicola Holman Chartered Accountant Ltd, has been approved by the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants and my Certificate of Public Practice is current from 31st July 2014.
