My name is Nicola Holman and I have been a Chartered Accountant since 1991 and last provided accounting services to the public in 1999. Since then I have worked mostly in the public sector but also spent about 5 years teaching accounting to undergraduate students at the University of Otago. I have maintained a handful of small business clients in recent years and helped my husband establish Moa Park Natives, a NZ native plant nursery, which we operate from our lifestyle block on Signal Hill, Dunedin.
With advances in IT and the internet it is now possible to work from anywhere and so I decided in December 2013 to re-establish my accounting practice, but to work from home. Home for me is an environment which more closely resembles a botanic garden than a city office and so is a very beautiful place in which to work.
My specialty is individuals, small to medium businesses and not for profit organisations, and I offer a full range of accounting services. All accounting work is performed by me and my costs are very competitive. I use and promote Xero accounting software because I believe it is the best on the market. This doesn’t mean that if you don’t have Xero I can’t help you. I have a good working knowledge of other accounting software packages and systems and so can be completely flexible.
I am a very friendly and down to earth accountant and always work with my clients to find the best solution for them.
Moa Park Limited is the legal entity for my accounting practice and is owned by myself and my husband, Ken. Moa Park Limited also operates Moa Park Natives. Around the middle of 2014, when I have obtained my Certificate of Public Practice from the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants I will transfer the accounting practice into a new company I have formed called Nicola Holman Chartered Accountant Ltd.
